Nano-biotecnology and nano-biomedicine

We are interested in the mechanisms of the biomedical and toxicological/ pathological effects of nanosystems for therapy and diagnosis (nanothernostics) at the biochemical, cellular and organismic level. We are engaged in:

  • studying the cytotoxic, pro-inflammatory, immunomodulatory and bio-compatibility of nanoparticles;
  • assessing and engineering their modulation by peptides (included insect and mold AMPs ), microbial and host-derived molecules (nanoparticle protein corona);
  • using this information to optimise the design and performance of multi-layered targeted nanoassemblies for drug delivery or PDT.
