Protein crystallography and cryoEM

The group is involved in structural studies on different targets, from Helicobacter pylori proteins relevant for bacterial infection and pathogenesis, to cryoEM characterization of the calcium uniporter complex (MCU complex) and the plasma membrane calcium ATPase (PMCA).

At the functional level, two main lines of interest include the study of PMCA mutations linked to Cerebellar Ataxia and the role of Familial Parkinson Disease (PD)-related proteins in keeping mitochondrial wellness, cellular Ca2+ signaling and the contact sites between the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and other intracellular organelles.
